I know you'll recognize many of the city names... and that's due to my uncreativity for such things.
Utrecht
This is the main island, with two smaller regions, Essex and Charleston. For the most part, Utrecht is the more populated of the two major islands with a population of about 1.5 million people. Essex is actually home to a good portion of them, with about 2500 people per square mile. Needless to say, Essex is home to the largest city in Utrecht: Westerleigh. (Think Manhattan.)
The north-west portion of Utrecht is home to many industrial facilities, and factories. Industry is the most pronounced of the three major industrial cities (Cape Mary, Fullerton, Industry), and is hub for imports by cargo freigts.
The waist of Utrecht is formed by the counties of Seaford, Elmhurst, and Ashland. Low-key cities that are known for their vast expanses of suburbia.
The rump of the island is one solid city that shares different names. (Think L.A.) It doesn't share the same concentration of population as Essex, and isn't nearly as built up -it is more widespread- but the populations are nearly equal. There are ghettos, and suburban spots, and high-rise downtown business districts, as well as smaller communities with parks and malls. The East Village area is home to more art galleries than the entire bottom half of Utrecht altogether.
Greewich and Newport are highly condensed areas, with very recent population boom. Condos crown nearly every street-side storefront, but the two cities still manage to keep a cozy, small town atmosphere. (Think Pasadena.)
East Village and West Village got mixed up at one point, and eventually the names took anyways. Residents often joke about it, or try to confuse tourists when giving them directions, but nevertheless the twin cities are some of the more popular among the unconventional. There is a main boulevard that connects the two towns, seafront to seafront, called Monroe Ave. It's a wide street, always bustling with cars and pedestrians. The street is known for its boutique shopping areas, of which the highest density is near the coastal regions. Each end of Monroe stops at a boardwalk: Marino Ave. for East Village, and 23rd St. for West Village.
Charleston
This sub-region of Utrecht is a bit more mountainous than the other portion, of which is relatively flat. The neighborhoods in Charleston are older and less frequent, due to the haphazard range of mountains. The largest city in Charleston is Brushwick.
Essex
Essex is one solid city, although, if you were to send mail there, the city name would actually be Westerleigh. Skyscrapers, grand town squares and centers. Lots of filthy ghettos, and lots of crime closer to the eastern end of the island. It's connected to the bottom of Utrecht by two birdges, and a ferry from Sydnie. Anything can happen there.
Sommerset
Sommerset is, for the most part, the agricultural island out of the Lindon Islands. It is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world, third to California. The ridiculously fertile soil owes its thanks to the fact that Sommerset is also home to a dormant volcano. Vineyards, orchards, cattle ranches. Its largest city is Naples, across the Blue Straight and across from Bridgemont. A six-lane bridge spans the half-mile straight and is the oldest in the Lindon Islands and was built in the 1930's.
INFASTRUCTURE
Public Transportation
Subway & Lightrail Systems
There are 15 subway lines in Essex, A-O.There's gauranteed to be at least one stop on each street.
On the Utrecht mainland, there are about 6 subways:
Red line: the Village Line (from East Village to West Village)
Blue line: the Midline (Sydnie, Bend, Ashland, Elmhurst, Fullerton, Industry, and about fifteen stops in between)
Green line: the Southline (a.k.a. The Assline) (Newport, Sydnie, Front)
Gold line: the Bayline (Elmhurst, Lindon Hill, Haven Heights)
Coastliner East: Westerleigh, Sydnie, Newport, Greenwich, West Village, Elmhurst, Lindon Hill, Haven Heights, Edgeton
Coastliner West: Westerleigh, Sydnie, East Village, Seaford, Lawrence, Fullerton, Cape Mary, Industry
There are countless buslines all around Utrecht, but almost all of them stop at Sydnie, which seems to be the transportation hub.
Airports
There are two airports in the Lindon Islands: a small, single-runway airport located in Redlands, and a large, international airport in Sydnie with runways capable of comodating planes as large at 757s.
Education
High Schools
High Schools and other grade schoool institutions are in no short supply. There are dozens of elementary schools throughout the Lindon Islands, and about a half dozen highschools scattered about the area.
Colleges
Most of the colleges are located in Essex or near the "Ass" of Utrecht. There are two arts schools in Essex (fine arts (The Essex School of Fine Arts: ESFA) and design (The Smith Design Institute: SDI)), The Essex School of Engeneering (ESE), and even a Westerleigh branch of ITT Tech.
There's a community college in Newport, Sydnie, Lindon Hill, and Manchester, and a prep school in Ivy Glen, as well as Ivy Glen Law Academy . Ashland is home to the Ashland Performing Arts Institute (APAI).
There's also UU (Utrecht University) in Manchester, and also a UU in Sydnie.
