I've been thinking about this one vital aspect of real life that we all take for granted, and how I would be able to re-create it in Verbatim. So this is what I came up with:
1. To initiate a phone call, communicate in private (PM, through email, or through an instant messenger) with either the subject of the email or the first IM/PM saying "Ring ring", and then with the name of the character calling, and who they are calling (John - Cassidy).
2. If you receive such a message from another user, you may chose to pick up the phone or not answer -or not be available to answer-. In this case, reply with "denied" in the subject or first message.
3. If you are denied a conversation, you may chose to leave a voicemail, in which the subject or first line of a IM/PM says the word "voicemail", then proceeded with the message.
4. If you decided to answer the phone, proceed through the private chat/exchange IN CHARACTER.
5. When the phone call is finished, you must go back to your current roleplay and write a post involving YOUR END of the phone conversation, i.e. everything you sent to the other person in the phone call.
Example:
-insert PM exchange here between John and Cassidy-
-Cassidy returns to her current thread and makes a post about her phone ringing, her answering it, and her end of the discourse, meaning, only what she says to John-
-John does the same-
6. If your roleplay is planned enough, you might want someone involved in the roleplay with you to interrupt your phone call, and steal the phone away from you or something in the middle of the conversation. In such an instance, you would continue the steps above, except post your end of the convresation ONLY up until the point that it's disrupted, in which case, the person interrupting your phone call would continue talking with the recipient through PM/IM/Email on their own.
Well, that's about it, really. If you have any other comments/questions, just PM me.
